The wood fire was crackling warmly & the cool breeze from the open window carried the sound of the creek outside their door, the meal had been amazing & everything was just right. Unfortunately, her birthday fell on friday the 13th that year (& he didn't want to take any chances with his luck) so as the hour neared midnight and they slipped into their pajamas he kept an eye on the clock. It was 12:15 a.m. as he pulled the engagement ring from the waistband of his pajama pants her eyes widened in shock. After saying 'yes' about a million times they got down to business & started planning the guest list that night. 10 months later they returned to the same gorgeous spot to pledge their love in front of a small group of immediate family & a few close friends. We were priveledged to be a part of that intimate ceremony & to capture Meredith & BJ's day.

A WEDDING IN ITALY!!!!
They are complete opposites but compliment each other in every way. Artistic, creative, unique & passionate, with an old world charm, bold colors, history & elegance.... it's amazing how the words Emily & Hector used to describe the feeling they are looking for in their location & feel of their wedding in Italy reflect their personalities perfectly. We are extremely honored that these two incredible people have chosen Matt & I to be a part of & photograph their wedding in Florence, Italy. The only hard part is the wait. It's being planned for June 2010.....We can't imagine anything more exciting to look forward to.

Natalie
This is a fun portrait session with a lovely lady from Dallas I photographed last week. It's a surprise gift for her father (who lives here in Calgary) & I think he'll be very happy to have these great smiles around when she return back home next week.

Heather & Charles e-session
When Matt arrived to photograph Heather & Charles on a sunny Sunday morning they had mentioned they might be a little uncomfortable in from of the camera. Within about 3 minutes they seemed to forget all about him & totally enjoy just hanging out together & having fun. Starting out with coffee & ending at the train tracks these guys could have kept shooting all day long.

Lorelyn & Edwin e-session
So, we've been super busy lately & I've got a bit of catching up to do. Matt photographed Lorelyn & Edwin last week at Eau Claire Market where they had their first date & revisited to capture some fun engagemnet pics. I think they were both a little nervous to start (as everyone is) but Edwin kept Lorelyn laughing throughout the session & some terrific images captured how much fun these two have together.

Kris & Lawrence - a personal project
She sat on the other side of the classroom because her name started with 'Z' & I of course, was at the front having a 'B' last name. I thought she looked mysterious & unique with her tangle of long blonde hair, heavy gold eyeshadow & oversize baggy cable knit sweater. I shadowed her for 3 blocks before working up the nerve to approach on the walk to the busstop that first day of Grade 10. Alphabetically we were opposites, but within those last few blocks to the bus we became best friends. Kris & I have known each other through many, many changes & have lived our lives vicariously through each others (usually opposite) life choices. She is a wonderfully independant free spirited soul who lives her life to the fullest each day, an exceptionally generous & unique 'fairy god-mother' to our 2 daughters & has unfalteringly supported every decision I've made (whether she agreed with it or not) & never once said 'I told you so'. When I was lamenting to her my desire to shoot a bride & groom in the water, laying in a field, on the ground, in a deserted building, something out side the traditional wedding 'box' she unhesitantly volunteered. Lawrence (being the love of her life) was volunteered for the desireable part of the groom. Thank you Kris for being cold & wet for me and somehow still looking gorgeous & thank you for wearing a dress (which she NEVER does) & most of all thank you for NOT wearing the gold eyeshadow (wise choice to leave it in the 80's) ;).

Melissa & Michael - Aug. 25, 2007
When we met Melissa & Michael last year we knew right away they would be a pleasure to photograph. Their quirky sense of humour, easy laughter & the deep sense of understanding of each other & what it means to be 'in love' was obvious in their eyes as they looked at each other. That connection was shared throughout the wedding day & with each photo we took I was thrilled to see their personalities shining through. Thank-you for chosing us to capture your laughter & love.

The beautiful Ava Gorgenyi - 6 months
I have had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful little girl from her mom's belly, to an amazing 2 months & now at 6 months. She just keeps getting more interesting each time I arrive to shoot. She is the apple of her parents eye....let me show you why...

Angela & Ryan @ Lake Chestermere - Aug.18, 2007
We were all holding our breath as the dark clouds rolled in moments before the outdoor wedding ceremony was about to begin. Amazingly those half-believed re-assurances of "it won't rain" came true & the few sprinkles went unnoticed by the guests packed onto the patio as everyone was absorbed in the beautiful ceremony taking place. Afterwards the sky was as dramatic as only those post rain prairie skies can be & a photographers dream. With a short time line & a gorgeous fun-loving wedding party we did what we love to do best...created art.
