A former wedding client of ours asked me to do a shoot with his parents celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. It's not my usual subject but I had a blast capturing the flame that is still very much alive between this long time married couple.

Lara & Del Feb.16, 2008
Matt was hired to do a quick reception only shoot for Del & Lara last Saturday @ the Wedding Pavillion. He got there in time to see the ceremony wrapping up, snagged a few photos & then onto the reception. I was so impressed with his shots & with his photojournalistic style, he captured some great stuff in a short time.

Shelley & Ryan Wedding - Feb.9, 2008
Without a doubt, Shelley & Ryan chose to get married on one of the coldest days we have ever shot outside (-36˚C). Fortunately, we had forseen this possibility & scouted out some cozy locations nearby in which to take shelter & capture some amazing images of these two newly weds. Congrats guys & thanks for being willing to trust us & snuggle tight to stay warm. Enjoy your honeymoon!

Welcome Easton
When I arrived to take photos of 8 day old Easton it was like stepping into a photographers dream. He was fast asleep, on a sheepskin blanket, in from of a fireplace in a room full of natural light. This was extremely good news for the style of photography I love to shoot.
The more natural light the better & I learned a HUGE lesson that day. Photos of newborn babies are best done in the first 7 days of their lives (max.10 days). Easton was sleepy, easily changed into various outfits, didn’t mind being moved into different locations & positions & so co-operative. I could do all my favorite detail shots & the new ideas I’d been waiting to have the right situation to try out - accomplished. Not to mention how welcoming, comfortable & relaxed Kyla & Curtis were to be around.
Thanks for a fabulous shoot guys - enjoy your gorgeous son.

Firefly Occasions
I have to give a huge shout out to Firefly Occasions who co-ordinated the wedding we shot on Sat. Shelley (the bride) wanted something no one had seen or done before & Ciara blew everyone out of the water with her imagininative & extraordinary decor at the Palliser. Check this out:
Here's the master planner Ciara with her husband Simon & the website if anyone's interested:

For Photographers
So, I have had a few questions from other photographers over the last few months & I thought I'd share the questions & answers with everyone.
1. Who designs your website?
Pre-January I had a terrific web designer Tammy, from 2peasinapod
She did a fabulous job but I'm not afraid of change.
The site I have now is a template from bludomain
The templates are really easy to use & very customizable which is what I needed. I can upload my own images, create galleries & change dates, headings & colors easily. I LOVE IT. I totally recommend it to anyone creating a website.
2. DWF Seminar (digital wedding forum) - was it worth going to?
We travelled to Las Vegas last March & then to Florida last month for the annual DWF Seminar. I have to say that attending these conferences are the best thing we ever did. There are photographers from all over the world sharing info. & their images, vendors from excellent album companies, camera bags, camera gear, everything! The best part for us was that it opened our eyes & minds to the fact that there are photographers all over the world making amazing images (not just here in our market) and we were humbled & inspired by what we saw & learned. Yes, it was expensive & yes, it was worth every penny & yes, we will do it again next year - without a doubt.
There are more questions but I will save those for another post :)
Please let me know if you have any other questions, I am happy to share what I have learned - that's how we can all grow.
My dad's biggest piece of advice for me has been 'Never be afraid to ask questions'.
A sneak peek image from last Sat.'s FREEZING cold wedding.

Melissa & Perica
On the way down from Grande Prairie for some snow boarding Melissa & Perica stopped through Calgary to do an afternoon e-session with Matt. Love was definitely in the air on a this chilly Monday afternoon & there was no shortage of warmth between these two.
